FIGHTING IN THE WARSAW UPRISING OF 1944
The NPHG and the Second Air Division USAAF Memorial Library will be welcoming representatives of the Polish National Foundation from Warsaw to the Forum, Norwich on Thursday 28th November 2019 at 19.00.
“Frantic 7 – The Story of Two Flags” is the fascinating and dramatic account of how USAAF planes air-dropped arms and supplies to Polish insurgents fighting in the calamitous 63-day Warsaw Uprising of 1944 against German forces. 250,000 Poles lost their lives during the fighting and Warsaw was razed to the ground.
Norfolk had a strong connection with the missions as B-17 Flying Fortress bombers from Thorpe Abbott's airbase took part and members of the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum there will also display archive materials at the event. The presentation by PFN will include films, a talk and recorded interviews with aircrews who flew on those missions 75 years ago.
Pre-booking is essential via the NPHG website (www.thenphg.org)
